Hot Restaurants on the VDA Radar!

Pic1VANDAL– Chris Santos, chef/owner, has teamed up with Rich Wolf of the TAO and LAVO group bringing their synergies to the newest creation Vandal restaurant. By far this is the hottest spot on the Lower East Side. This fabulous 12,000 square feet restaurant is a hodgepodge of yummy street foods found throughout different cultures. There are two levels, which include the private dining room, cellar bar/lounge, secret garden dining section, and a hidden subterranean lounge area. One room is full of artwork curated by the artist Hush. The second room filled with street-smart graffiti meets fine dining. Another room is full of propaganda style murals by Shepard Fairey, an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, an activist well known for his famous “Hope” poster of Barack Obama.

pic2CATCH-Asian Fusion, Sushi Bars, and Seafood restaurant is another favorite hot spot located in the Meatpacking District. The multi-level eatery housed in a turn-of-the-century building designed by the talented team, EMM Group. The team led by Eugene Remm, Mark Birnbaum and Michael Hirtenstein whose portfolios include the well known Lexington Brass and Abe & Arthur’s. The restaurant is equipped with beautiful copper-stacked floating staircase and timber. A state-of-the-art open kitchen is equipped with both a Wood Stone Oven and a custom Molteni Suite thus adding a striking visual effect to the meal. The Panoramic view of the skyline awaits you as you make your way up to the lounge area on the fourth level. Warm, comfortable brown leather seating makes you feel as though you are in the comfort of your home.

PETER LUGER STEAK HOUSE-located in Williamsburg and worth the trip for the red meat lover. Voted NYC number 1 steakhouse for the 32nd year in a row. The Tudor style decor will bring you back to another era in time which has survived in its location for over a century. The room is full of wood tables, floors, and wall paneling reminiscent of an old fashion steak house. If the walls could talk, they would provide us with an earful of the deepest secrets permeated in the surface of the wood. Today, Marilyn Spiera and Amy Rubenstein, run the business with Marilyn’s daughter and Sol’s granddaughter, Jody Storch. Make sure to bring cash, or you may have to ask your date to flip the bill since the restaurant does not accept credit cards.
pic4KINGSLEY– Roxanne Spruance Chef/Owner, under the guidance of top chef Dale Levitski, Koren Greiveson and Paul Kahan delights us with her culinary skills. The elegant French-American restaurant with its rustic atmosphere wrought iron trims. A chandelier hangs beautifully over a sequence of cozy tables along the walls creating a playful, intimate atmosphere. My favorite dish the Scallops with Sunchoke Walnut and Chicharrones is out of this world. Dooney & Bourke honored Roxanne naming a purse in her honor calling it the ROXY bag.

BALTHAZAR-located in, the SOHO area, is Keith McNally’s newest night spot. If you’re feeling like an American in Paris, you will want to visit this eatery. Offering a traditional French Brasserie that specializes in an array of seafood entrees with a complete raw seafood bar. Make sure to stop at the bakery and bring home some delicious French pastries.
